One Day Our Heavenly Father Shall Defend us

What do we do when trials come our way? Our souls can sing one of two songs: "Poor me, why is this happening? Life isn't good to me" or "Praise You Lord, I choose to believe that You are working things all out for my good."

David spoke to his soul in Psalms 42:5, "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance." We too must learn to speak to our souls and not allow our emotions to take control of us.

May we choose to say, "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth." (Ps. 34:1). Everyday we have a choice to make; people say that God isn't fair, but He is! He doesn't force us to do anything. Therefore, God is fair and we are the ones who decided to do the wrong thing(s).

Our attitude is the number one important thing that we must be careful and watch, especially when we are in the middle of a trial (testing). Our attitudes will decided whether we allow God to make us better or bitter. God does not make us do anything we do not want to do. Using Pharaoh as an example: God did not make Pharaoh hardened. Looking at Pharaohs life we can clearly see that he made wrong choices on his own. God didn't harden Pharaohs heart just because He didn't like Pharaoh. No, God confirmed Pharaoh in the path that he already chose to be on. Pharaoh was a man who hated the Israelites and the Israelites are the children of God. Therefore, he had that which was of God. This is a beautiful part for the children of God to take great hope and strength in. God avenged His children, they suffered, but God avenged them. We see that there were plagues that were released upon all of the Egyptians and many might say that these plagues were too extreme, but put yourself in this position. You have a child who is bullied and suffers greatly, one day the time comes where you now are able to avenge your child. What would you do? I would say that God showed some mercy on the Egyptians because if they were would children we would probably take all of their lives.

My reason in saying all of these things is this. Our sufferings, although they may seem like they are many and long in length of time, are really only for a short period of time. In due season our Savior is going to come back to earth and avenge all that the enemy has done to His people. Remember this while you are in a trial (either big or small) and choose to bless the name of Jesus instead of groaning and complaining. Be encouraged that God sees what is going on and He is going to avenge us one day.

Amen
